In 2009, Alan and I were informed that a pirate edition of Diamant was sold everywhere in Brazil, under the name Risco Total, published by a big local publisher, Grow. The theme was different, the explorers being now deep sea divers, but the game rules, and even the card distribution, were exactly the same. Such things happen, and there's usually little to do.

For once, things ended well. The game had been presented to the Brazilian publisher as an original design. The people at Grow had been mistaken and wanted to set things rights. This means that Alan and I are now being paid standard royalties on Risco Total, and that our names will probably be added on the box if the game is ever reprinted - which might well happen since it seems to be well received.

Surprisingly, Alan and I didn't consider a submarine setting when designing the game. It fits the game systems very well. Sharks, giant octopus, lack of oxygen and other diving hazards are very realistic dangers which create the same tension as snakes, scorpions and mine collapse. The components of Risco Total, on the other hand, are not on par with Diammant or Incan Gold.
